Rhythm and Blues originated in the 1940's, which wasn't during the Harlem Renaissance. It did, however, come from Blues, which was infact from the Harlem Renaissance. The Blues is a type of music that deals with life, love, and hardships. It was usually self-accompanied by the singer on a harmonica or guitar, and the singers quite often worked with jazz bands or pianist.
